Pottermore Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Pottermore Ltd. is the digital publishing, e-commerce, entertainment, and news company from J. K. Rowling and is a global digital publisher of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World. It offers news, features, and articles as well as new and previously unreleased writing by J. K. Rowling. The site features Rowling's thoughts, several pages of unpublished text, and a sales resource for e-book and audiobook versions of the seven Harry Potter novels.
A disapproving former employee from London says, "Communication and senior management in this company [Pottermore] is the worst I've known. There isn't a cohesive plan of work from top down. Trying to get information from anyone is like trying to get blood out of a stone. Maybe because no one actually has a clue what the ask is and has just delegated the work on in the hope someone else will either take the blame for bad delivery, or is able to take a lucky guess as to what is actually needed. At the end of the day, it's a company that is trying to milk a lot out of a limited source and it's just not quite working with the current management structure in place. Good luck if you choose to work here, you're going to need it."
Former Freelancer - Anonymous Freelancer says"Sorry to hear the above, the freelance opportunity advert generated thousands of applications so it took us some time to get through them all. All those that were asked to submit full pieces we responded to and we gave feedback as to why we didn't use their piece at that time. The full article /request to expand on ideas that were of interest we sent to all those that were shortlisted and we ask you to review the website so that they will be in the house style/ tone. This would be why there are similarities. I would really like to resolve this to make sure you are able to talk though any outstanding queries so please drop an email to the email address you have FAO Janine and I will be in touch. thanks"
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"Working at Pottermore has been a nightmare. Disorganisation, lack of competence, ignorance is what you will find. A company that barely survives only thanks to a brand. No creativity, no understanding of the market's requirements. Just terrible. Also despicable that they have been adding fake reviews here to try and improve the score. All the positive comments are a poor tentative to try and look decent after so many negative reviews."
says"Management team are a shambles and literally have no idea what they are doing Faux American corporate culture CEO bullying Zero career progression Terrible Pay HR determined to post fake positive reviews on here Lots of the talented staff have already been forced out"

says"The senior management can't devise a strategy for toffee, so have bought in an army of overpaid mercenary consultants, who are laughing all the way to the bank. However, whilst taking the money, none of them have come up with a plausible strategy as to how to revitalise an ageing brand (answer - you can't, the kids are over it). The minions at Pottermore by contrast are unhappy and ignored. Their views are not invited and would be rejected in favour of an external (and expensive) opinion by the untrusting senior management. you'd have thought this would be an excellent brand to have on your CV and a great place to work - but in fact it'll rob you of your confidence, and eventually break you."
Former Employee - Anonymous says"Bad senior management with no structure in place to support mid-junior employees for any personal and professional growth and legitimate grievances. A number of management hadn't even read all the source materials they were supposed to be selling but would constantly question those who had in frankly, a rude, unprofessional manner. No one listened to the people they brought in to do their jobs, which over little time, was demoralising. Any creative progress that had potential was always quashed with little explanation to the people who'd put their time and soul in to it. Aggressive and unconstructive management, which was essentially bullying in the work place, was allowed to go unquestioned. Even when this was reported in to "HR", nothing was done. This is not professional and should not be acceptable anywhere."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"I had no clue as to what the company focus was, no career ladder or clear objective setting, managers that can't manage people, phone calls on the toilet, not AGILE even though they hark on about it, high staff turnover - its a contractors heaven, its a culture of secrets and brain farts. I'd say av life expectancy is around one year, core product is out of date and no one at a snr level knows what to do with it, amazingly poor staff get togetherness unless you liked a book club discussing the latest womens hour book of the month. Despite being a 'Magical' brand it left me with a feeling of being on blackpool pier watching a washed up great suprendo on a wet rainy day."
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"The lack of investement in internal projects and relying always on external consultants in a not proper coordinated way."
